I hope thats how you spell it anyway, my sister has just moved house & all the doors are sapele but need cleaning up somehow - she wanted to paint them white but I've told her to hang fire until I've got on here as I don't think that would be very successful - any ideas or tricks of the trade?
many thanx

If you are refering to the flush doors that were fitted in the 70's then if they are not scratched but just dirty ..I did mine with sugar soap and they came up a treat.

I always think it is a pity to paint wooden or even veneered doors.0

yeah house hasn't been touched since early 80's when built - plain doors with what looks like a wood finish but its not wood if you know what I mean - prob some sort of veneer0 -

Use water based primer/ undercoat with a mini roller, will need 2-3 coats, finish off with a good quality gloss, or satinwood. Clean down with sugar soap first.0 -
i did all mine last year. they were a !!!!!! brown color.
a good clean first, and a sanding with a machine. then 2 coats undercoat and 2 coats of satinwood. used a mini roller. and did all the doors on a flat surface.
