your payment has been refunded???

I had an auction up which ended a few days ago. I sent the winner of the auction an invoice last night, and this morning when I checked the status just now, the pound sign is lit up with a little arrow next to it, and says "Your payment has been refunded"
How can this be?
Doesn't make any sense???
I thought only I could 'refund a payment'?
some sort of glitch??

In paypal it says ''PayPal reversed this payment because of a dispute or payment review. The money has been returned to the sender's PayPal account.''
I messaged the buyer, and he appears to be as confused as I am.0
