U had fuel pump replaced in previous focus and the problem returned . Did the garage check or replace fuel pump relay might have been failing one . They could have used a new one or a used one . I still believe , your current car has a fuel problem ?0
-
No I didn't take the previous car back, it won't even start now and it's just parked on my drive. It has other problems including the wheel bearings I believe-so I will sell for scraps :-(
Well the current focus I bought LAST WEEK seems to be starting this morning-so I think I will try and drive it to work and see how far I get.
I think I have had enough of cars now, I can't be bothered. It takes me so long to save up this money-just to end up stranded with my son waiting for the AA! :-(0 -

with the Focus, it could be the Fuel Pump as Destination...? explained as i had the same problem with my focus 1.8 and once i had the Garage replace the fuel pump it has worked since (replaced back in July) and had not had a problem (touching wood and fingers and everything Crossed)
I would suggest you take it to the garage and have them Diagnose the problem properly. it will cost but depends how much you rely on your car. it cost me 210 for the Pump and 3 hours labour (reduced to 2 hours) as i know the mechanic for yearsTotal Debt in June 2013: Barclaycard 0% until Nov 2014: £1550

........Anyway
I've had the car for two weeks, and in that time, it has cut out at least 7 times. usually when im coming to a stop.
But yesterday at 1 am, I was driving home and at 30 miles an hour the battery light flashes on-and the car shuts off!! im pressing the gas pedal cos I didnt realise straight away and obviously im just slowing down!
Then the light disappears again and the car switches itself on again!
Thank God my little boy wasn't in the car with me, or I wasn't being tailgaited!
I'm so annoyed-because this car is TOO dangerous for me to drive!
where do I stand? because I dont want this car anymore, after two weeks its more trouble than its worth!
The dealer said there was nothing at all wrong with the car, perfectly safe to drive, He idn't even check the car before re-selling it, but I took his word for it :-(
Can anyone offer any advice please? is there anyway I can return this car and get y money back (minus deposit if needs be)?0 -
Please, I really need advice now, I took the car back to the dealer, who diagnosed the fault as being the throttle.
They said it would cost 75 for the part and they wouldnt charge me for labour, so I paid because I need a car that works.
Took it away and on my journey home, the car lost power for a few seconds but it recovered.
I noticed that the dealer started it twice when I came to pick it up, but I ignored it...
Anyway I drove it to camden on saturday, and in traffic after waiting for some time, the car shook quite violently and then shut off with the battery light coming on! It also takes a couple of tries before it actually starts up again!
Its been less than a month and this car is just unrelaible.
Is there anyway to get my money back, or will they make this hard for me?
I understand that this is a used car but it should be fit for purpose, and its not.
This was not sold a "spares or repair"0 -
£795 for car plus £75 for repairs already!0

Can i ask did you take it to trusted Garage or a reputable dealer?
everything you stated all seems to suggest Maybe an ECU issue. the only thing i can suggest is taking it to reputable Ford dealer or a trusted garage to have this checked out properly with a full Diagnostic, explaining the issues you have been experiencing.
as for money back, from what i have read on these forums and generally it will next to impossible getting a refund but you can have ago by either phoning them or writing a letter stating that you bought in good faith from a trusted and established dealer and you were sold a product which is faulty and you kindly ask them to either rectify the problem or to refund you.
have a go with the latter and see how you get on. you will never know until you try. please do update the post if you decide to do the latter or the garage thing in the first paragraphTotal Debt in June 2013: Barclaycard 0% until Nov 2014: £1550

Hi there, I took it back to the dealer I bought it from, as they have a garage onsite, they said they charged me for the part only, and fitted it for free
this is just ridiculous0 -
'Fault being the throttle'. Anything more specific? I reckon all they've done for £75 is remove the maf or throttle body and spray carb cleaner hoping it did the trick. Guess you've found out why the previous owner got shot of it. IMO, you shouldn't have paid, as you have now found out, thats £75 down the drain. Should have said at the start get it road worthy at their cost, or give you a refund if it isn't cost effective for them. Longer you have the car, the less power you have on getting stuff fixed, esp on a £800 banger.0
