Hi All,
A friend is pregnant with twins and has asked for help in choosing a travel system. Thought this was the best place to start!!
Do any of you have any recommendations?
Thanks in advance,
Al

Has she decided on a style? My sister who had boy/girl twins insisted she wanted side by side ones rather than one in front of another. I thought her chosen ones were a nightmare getting thru shop doors. Beyond that i can't help as said twins are now at Secondary school.0

Baby Jogger City Select is a pretty good double travel system, (much cheaper than say the Bugaboo Donkey) it has the ability to have 2 car seats etc on, and it's tandem so easy to get through doors. The seats can be positioned to face each other too which I think is lovelyThe frontier is never somewhere else. And no stockades can keep the midnight out.0

Wowzers........things have certainly changed since I had my last 8 years ago!!! All very modern looking now.
She would prefer one in front of the other as opposed to side by side, for reason mentioned in Spendless's post.WW Start Weight 18/04/12 = 19st 11lbsWeight today = 17st 6.5lbsLoss to date 32.5lbs!!!0 -
The BJCS is one in front of the other
I have heard so many good reviews about that pram, but I'm not sure how suitable it is for twins as opposed to 2 of different ages, she'd need to go and see how it is in real life. It's ideal for those with 1 child too, as it can be adapted at a later date for 2! I'd have it for 2 for sure.

The Jane powertwin is nice if you want a tandem... Easy to steer and push. Tandems have the advantage of when the twins are toddlers they can't whack each other in the face
Tandems are extremely long though and don't handle tight corners in shops well and look like a mission to get on a bus.
I had a maclaren twin techno and hated it... It was a nightmare to push but easy to collapse and folds small if you have a car.
Bugaboo donkey: v.expensive and huge
Mountain buggy: same.
Britax be-dual: versatile, heavy, comes apart in loads of bits
Mclaren type:flimsy but small folding
Icandy:again, dismantles rather than folds, doesn't look big enough for toddlers!
I do have twins but they are in junior school now so I haven't used all of these buggies its just what I've heard/seen in some cases.
I've got toddlers 16 months apart and swear by my Phil & ted but it's not suitable for 2 newborns!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

A friend of mine has twins and swears by her bugaboo donkey, its a really smooth push , and not as huge as it looks as it will go through her front door whole, the only downside i see for it is the price.
I think mamas and papas still do a duette which is tandem.
Ive had a double mountain buggy for a toddler and a baby and again the push is fantastic and so easy.
The only one i'd say not to go near is a jane power twin they tip so easily going up kerbs.
there is a twins store your friend might like.

I have the BJCS for my 18 month old and my impending arrival. Admittedly only used as a single at the min but i LOVE it. Have 4 friends use as a double who still love it so deffo get her to try that one out. xxBaby Girl Born May 2011Baby Boy Born Nov 2012

What crazy marketing "guru" decided to call a pram a donkey?!
I don't have twins, but a friend who does also votes for the Jane Powertwin.Who made hogs and dogs and frogs?

Nipper 360 double is good for twins but it is a side by side. Lovely and light to push.0

Tandems are easier through doors, but harder to bounce up kerbs, turn corners, get on buses/trains, etc. You can also end up with one child staring at the back of a seat all the time with some makes.
We wanted a side-by-side, with carrycots (can't use the car seats too much with young babies) and the option to parent-face when in seats. Unfortunately, only the Donkey seemed to really meet our requirements. Expensive, but very very good.
We also have a second-hand double nipper and it is awesome. We had a single nipper with our son, but that's no good for twins! Most other twin parents we know have one. It doesn't take car seats and we wouldn't want to use it as our only pushchair with newborns, but it is light, easy to manouver, great offroad...
Some doubles are too wide for standard doors, both the bugaboo and nipper are fine although the bugaboo is wider with the car seats on.
