Overpaying Electricity Bill

Seeking a little advise... Here's the story...

My other half has a hairdressing salon who has currently been paying £400 a month to NPower for approx last 2 years.
She thought at the time this was the 'going rate' for a business electricity, however she has recently found out her bill should be more like £30/40 a month.

Can she claim the money she has overpaid?

She has contacted NPower and they have told her its her own fault for not checking!!

Can anyone help us??

    Yes, she can. They can only charge her for what she has used.

    I think she is going to Citizens Advise to ask how she starts proceeding with her claim.

    I guess it's just write a formal complaint to NPower first and see what happens!

    If she has a huge credit on her account then all she has to do is ask the supplier for a refund. Why waste time asking Citizens Advice?
    But if she has been on the wrong tariff then no, it's down to her-the supplier is under no responsibility to put her on the cheapest tariff.
    However, the difference between tariffs is not 1000%, so you need to establish the proper facts.
    Has she not been suplying regular meter readings, and so getting estimated bills? The supplier only has to read the meter once every 2 years, so they may have been hopelessly over-estimating based on previous consumption.
    No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)
