What happens is that she gets an a$$-kickin' divorce solicitor like my pal and goes after a share of the pension. ALWAYS go for a share of the pension, we told lady clients back when I worked for the CAB.
HH, your ex sounds like a prince among men. Hopefully he'll contract some deeply unpleasant but non-terminal illness whilst on one of his many jaunts. Perhaps you could anonymously arrange for him to be sent brochures for these norovirus cruises which are so popular lately. I hear it's a delightful way to spend 48 hours...........:rotfl:Love your avvie, btw.
Well I thought I had a kick a$$ solictor but turns out the system only seems to work if you are very rich/famous. I was told, by solicitor and barrister that ex could ask for half of my pension (it's very small), if I wanted a contribution from his. For some reason their sympathies seemed to lie with him, despite the fact he was working and earning IEO £30,000 and I was a SAHM with no income!
Anyway, enough of that, otherwise I'll get all bitter and twisted. :rotfl::eek:
Thanks for the lovely comments about Polo, he's snuggled on the sofa with me and you wouldn't believe he's only been here one night. I'm in love.0 -
Well, if there wasn't a swear filter I'd repeat a swear word about three times to begin this post, along with the angry emoticon .
Just back from the docs....
I have a partially torn meniscus. For 6 weeks I'm to rest my leg, it's in a brace and I have to go see a physio. So much for moneysaving via staying fit :rotfl: Subsequent to that we'll see how I am with light exercise (walking) if it continues to be a bother even with light exercise, surgery is an option. Without surgery, jogging is likely to be off the cards for good.
I'm feeling rather sorry for myself, so just ate one of my incredible chocolate cookies. You have to try these:
Chocolate comfort cookies
3 tablespoons nutella
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 cup self raising flour
1 egg
3 tablespoons ground almonds
A handful of chocolate chips or chocolate chopped into chunks
Mix together until it's pretty dry, but well mixed. Add a splash of milk, mix again. Add another if needed, just to get it to the binding stage. Pop small balls (rolled in your hand) of it on a baking sheet, about a 1" ball, well spaced apart because they spread. Bake at 180 for about 10 minutes, leave to cool for a couple of minutes on the tray, then pop on a rack to cool. Be warned, they stick, so the tray should be very non stick or preferably a silicon baking sheet.
The measurements are odd because I made them the other day using ingredients I had left in the cupboard.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Softstuff...Have a
Just seems one thing after another...I think your remedy was spot on having at least one "Comfort Cookie"
They say "try and exercise" and people like yourself and others on here try and do so correctly and still get stopped in their tracks. And get something else to boot.

Morning all well I feel a bit better today so back on the old style wagon.
It's freezing hear today so mega cleaning day as I don't want to go out.
Well I may make a trip to cs if dh will take me b4 he goes to work lol.
I will do my jobs then read back I maybe missing for some time xxxI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0 -
Thanks Pops. On the plus side the doc didn't think the jogging had done it (since I was so gentle), just that it had aggravated it. Chances are, if anything did it, it would have been the twisting of my leg thanks to the tumour in it. But hey ho.
When life gives you cack, make cookies. From a seated position.Softstuff- Officially better than 0070 -
Morning all and thank you for explaining to me about eyes and blood pressure. Pops sent me a very interesting link that gave some more info.
Softstuff i hope you heal quickly without the need for surgery and those cookies sond wonderful.
We have no snow but it is a bit chilly here on the borders of london and kent. Its apparently -2 at 20 past eight in the morning. I shall stay home and sort my youngest daughters clothes out i think. she is six in summer yet still has size 3-4 clothes lurking in her draws and in shopping bags under her bed so last night i dragged them all downstairs and today will do it properly even down to taking the old ones to the clothing bank.
My cat loves Dreamies too but he also loves bassetts milk bottle sweets and yesterday i took several pics of him desperately trying to get into the open bag of sweets:rotfl:I let him try for five minutes and then gave him one which he thoroughly enjoyed!0 -
Well, some good news that it was not aggrevated by the jogging. Now if they can get the tumour sorted(I did not know about that)Anyone believe the things happen in threes?
Softstuff, Hopefully you've had your three for the time being(perhaps the the third problem is something not mentioned on here)
Morning Jem and Sevenup,
I have been quite good and until last night had not ventured out for 3-4 days but as strong as I always hoped that I would be if ever totally on my own and I like my own company sometimes I just have to get out. Though it looks very cold out there but no more snow since Monday morning but what did remain of that froze.
Out again tonight so I hope it stays away.
The ticket for the music gig was booked sometime ago.
And so my most exciting task today is shaving off my three week old beard:rotfl:I think it suits me but it makes me look older than without. Its all the various colours that whiskers go when you reach a certain age...so far the little hair I have on top has not changed to grey...yet!
If/when it does, I won't be colouring it."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Thinking about it I'd like a pet again...I had a wonderful rabbit for 9 years. Frighteningly that was around 22 years ago.
But now not knowing my finances and where I will be and getting older perhaps its not such a good idea.
As someone said yesterday it is the extra worry of insurance in case our dear pets become ill and need to be seen by a vet.
There is also some concern these days that having a pet if being helped in some way by the State could be seen as wrong? Not by me as they can give love and company and help your well being but people and the media/politicians can be strange these days and quite nasty about such things...sorry I should say "Some" not all.
Also I would probably get too attached to my animal friend and have the sorrow such a loss causes.
I would have to consider a cat or rabbit to save the problems of having to walk a dog anyhow."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Morning all,
Boy am I glad I work in a "casual" environment as I am sitting here in walking boots, thick jeans, a thermal top, normal top, two jumpers and a scarf with a hot water bottle on my knees. Let's just say I feel the cold worse than most people I know! Have just phoned my mum to check she is ok (the temperature is supposed to be far worse in Yorkshire) and she told me she'd had a lie-in until 730. Sheesh mum, you're in your 80's you don't have to get up at 630 every day you know:o
So sorry to hear about the knee diagnosis Softstuff, but I'm pleased to hear it probably wasn't the jogging that did it. I've no idea how physio etc works in Australia, but maybe if you let them know you are keen to do some sort of cardiovascular exercise they might have some suggestions. In the mean time - keep taking that angst out in the kitchen and keep producing yummy recipes for us:)
Well done stiltwalker for getting your daughter's forms done without needing a large pile of kleenex.
And big warm hugs and mugs of hot chocolate to everyone.
Have a good day all.
PS My frugal(ish) discovery of the week: Mr M's value smoked salmon bits - 90p for a packet that makes a fantastic smoked salmon risotto for two. Just the thing for a cold January night.0 -
Good Morning everyone. Hope your all safe and warm.
We have lots of frozen snow here, and lots of black ice. It was minus 2 a little while ago. Have decided to take DD to collage, she uses the bus normally but has to walk to the other side of town.
I have work later, and im a little worried. They need me to go in for an extra shift, and they are paying me managers pay. Thats not the worry, i need to have my keys with me. I like to go do my job and go home, nothing else, no extra responsability.
OMG the news has just reported a helicopter crashing in london. I hope everyone is ok.
Right must get dressed for work. And do some cleaning. tea will be in the slow cooker for hubby and DD. Mine is leftover spag bol.
Take care everyone xBSC member 137
