Help needed please...

We've recently (June) changed our heating from Economy 7 to solid fuel.. I phoned EON telling them that we no longer need the Economy 7 tariff and we were changed to EON energy Online, and came to an agreement of paying £116 per month DD, we were paying £187 per month. In August I had a letter saying that they we will now be paying £156 per Month... I phoned EON explaining the situation that we had changed tariff and just come out of Economy 7. While talking to EON he mentioned that there seemed to be something wrong with the meter readings, he mentioned that it looks like the meter is Transposed. I gave him a meter reading and he asked me to use as much electricity as possible for the next 3 hours and he would phone me back at 2..
He phoned me back and said that the meter is transposed and its been happening since we had our meter changed 2 years ago and he put me through to another dept, where I was told that we should receive a cheque within 3 weeks.. This is in August, we still havent received the money..
To top everything, EON has been taking £156 per month for the past 2 months out of our account. I got a letter from them 2 weeks ago saying that the direct debit will be going up to £187 per month.. AGAIN I phoned EON explaining the situation, she apologized and said that she could only lower it to £156... After checking my EON account... we are £256 in credit!!!!!!!

Please.... can someone advise about how to get our money back for the transposed meter situation????
I am now getting more and more annoyed... especially when they told me that we will not be getting our money back with interest..

This was and is not our fault, we have never been in dept with anyone, but EON feel they have the right to withhold whats rightly ours..
Can someone please advise??

transposed meter with who? your next door neighbour? how did he know its a transpoed meter? why did he ask you to use as much electricity as possible seems strange to me
First things first, is it a crossed meter? please get the correct details and find out what e.on think has actually happened. Also crossed meters cn take some time to sort out as its possible they (e.on might have to deal with other suppliers) also whilst you may be due to get some money back eon wont pay you everything until they are sure they have got it right. If they paid you (for example) £500 quid and they only actually owed you £200 you might never return that £300 to them.
You will get your money, you need to be patient and make notes of every phone call you make to them
  • Our meter is transposed... EON told me on the phone.

He asked me to use the electricity so EON could monitor the usage to see if it was transposed or not..

I suspect he means off-peak and daytime readings from meters are transposed.
  • Thank you Cardew...

Yes, the off peak and daytime reading.. It's happened since they changed our meter 2 years ago..
  • Were you using night storage heaters at the time the meter was changed ? I have found that the only customers who lose out to the transposed readings mess up are the night storage users, all others end up with much cheaper bills and end up owing the suppliers when they finally twig on

    Hi west is best

I'm sorry for the delay resolving this matter.

In cases where meter readings have been transposed, we'll investigate the circumstances to find the root cause. This involves talking to the relevant industry bodies so the mismatch can be corrected and to make sure future billing is accurate.

We'll then re-bill the account back to when the readings were flipped and refund any resulting credit balance.

Have you received a revised bill yet detailing the corrected charges and the amount of money owed?

Transposed readings are dealt with by a specific team who, I'm guessing, you were put through to. Were these the people who told you the refund would take three weeks?

Sorry for the questions, just trying to understand where we're at with this.
