Time frame from giving preferred Completion dates to Exchange?

We have been waiting a long time to move home.
Searches have been done.
Questions have been done.
Our next stage is exchange.
We have given in our preferred completion dates.
It feels like were getting closer to moving and was wondering how much longer it would take to get to exchange?

That's a piece of string question ... impossible to say. Have you asked your solicitor?0

Are you selling as well as buying?
What about your vendors? How far have they got in their purchase?
And where are their vendors moving to? Buying? How far have they got?
You are dependant on, perhaps, 10 people (15? 20?) all getting their mortgages agreed, their searches done, their issues resolved before everyone can Exchange.
Maybe next Monday.

Vendor isn't moving anywhere, The property is there second home, empty and is chain free.
There are no people who have to get mortgages agreed, no issues, no searches awaiting.

Are you using a conveyancer? If so, why not ask if there is any reason why you can't Exchange tomorrow? If there is, they'll tell you!
If you are doing the conveyancing yourself, then my concern would be that you shouldn't be as you don't seem to know what you're doing!0 -
We signed our contract on Monday and gave our preferred completion date - we still haven't exchanged but thats because the vendor had to make an appointment to go into his solicitor to sign contracts and that is only happening today, so it may be Monday before we exchange.
