Spark Energy

my "E.ON SaveOnline 11" plan ends in 3 weeks, if I do nothing I'll be switched to "E.ON Energy Plan". I could switch to their "E.ON Energy Discount (Online)" plan which is cheaper.

However both 'Switch with Which' and 'MoneySupermarket' suggest I could save a further £145 by switching to SparkEnergy.

Not heard of them so had a look here ... which isn't very promising to say the least!

Is there a consensus view on Spark Energy here?

Thanks ... Simon.

  • I read meters on behalf of Spark energy, some of the people I ve been to ,( flat dwellers mostly ) to get the meter reads, have never heard of them neither and did nt even know thats who they ve been switched to. I have read on here that Spark pay commisions to landlords to switch their tenants
  • It is true that previously it served mainly rental tenants, landlords and property management firms, but Spark Energy has recently started providing tariffs available to private homes ... hence my interest ....

Do a forum search on Spark and you may change your mind...
They appear to be the Hotel California of energy suppliers.

Eon don't appear to fare much better according to that site either

So up to you whether or not you want to continue paying £145 over the odds.

I think the problem with those type of sites is it only attracts those who want to rant...
  • EON are big and I am a customer at the moment - you sort of know what you are getting. Of course I want to save £145, but do Spark Energy sound like a bunch of cowboys?
  • anyone with customer experience of Spark Energy?

I've just switched from an E.ON tariff and Spark were coming up as the cheapest option on all the comparison sites. However, as I understand it, you need to keep a minimum credit of one months peak usage at all times. I did a bit more research and decided that they would best not be touched, even with a very long barge pole.

As I've already said, quite a few dire reports on here, just do a forum search.
