Powerline achieved speeds - feedback

I know the question gets asked a lot about poweline speeds and have just set up 6 TP Link 500mbps (PA511) units across the house.
According the the utlity that comes with it to measure connection speeds the 6 units are achieving the following connnection speeds.
Base unit - no speed obviously
1 - 449mbps (this unit is in the same room but a different socket)
2 - 278 - This unit is also upstairs but another room
3 - 101
4 - 55
5 - 84
Units 3-5 are downstairs and a big drop is noticable. This may be because they are on a different ring (ie different fuse cut off for upstairs and downstairs plugs).
All are plugged directly into mains and not via any extensions.
I was previously using 200mbps units and in the speeds downstairs are about 50% up while the upstairs ones have tripled.
With the price difference between the 200 and 500 being only about a tenner if you shop around I would suggest the extra capacity is worth it if buying fresh but wouldnt spend to upgrade unless you needed the bandwidth.
