Goods received do i return?

My Credit card details have been used fraudently by someone and they ordered items. A package arrived this morning to my home address as the seller only delivers to the card holders address. I didnt order them so must be by the thief/scammer trying for a nice pair of shoes!

Do I have to and if so how do i return them ?

Card was stopped by card company as soon as fraud actibvity was spotted.! and i have no idea how they got my details.:(

Yes of course you have to return them, unless you accept the charge to your account, of course. Otherwise it's obtaining goods by deception surely?!

Send them back to wherever they came from if not!
  • You definitly have to return them as if the suppliers challenges the charge back the address will be a factor

Contact the retailer and get them to come and pick them up.

Card details are avaiable every time you use your card at any retailer.
Their systems retain the full card number... Dodgy staff member = fraud.

  • I dont have a problem in principle of returning them. They were sent from Monaco and the website has no contact details and no details in the package.

My question was more from a legal perspective....do i wait for the supplier to contact me or do I have a legal obligation to try and contact them ?

What if credit card company doesnt refute the charge to my card and just takes it on the chin....i suppose then the shoes belong to the credit card company !
  • are you sure the retailer has no contact details on its site?have you tried looking at the bottom of the home page if they arent obvious?

Contact the card provider and tell them.

Only way they will take it on the chin is if its a secure site.
