Extended delivery times- Furniture

Hi
We are moving to a newbuilt house in Jan. We don't have much furniture in the flat we live at the moment so need to buy new sofa, bed, wardrobes etc.
As it's Christmas time coming I reckon there will be many deals on furniture but our house will be completed only by mid-Jan. Do you know if any retailers allow extended delivery times? So we can get it on the deal prices and get it delivered only after we move in (8-10 weeks)?
I have never seen any places you can reserve furniture, that will be ideal!
cheers!

they all do aslong as you but when they say - you can say when you want it.
most the sales people you speak to will be on comms so will do all you want to up there figures.
but.............they can sometimes delay your delivery once they have your deposit0 -
I would have thought the furniture sales are more likely to be in January than before Christmas? But most big items will take 8-10 weeks to be delivered anyway, so bear that in mind when you order.
Personally, I wouldn't order before I'd moved in just in case anything went wrong with the delivery or if moving in was delayed, to avoid the hassle of trying to re-arrange things. And it would give you a chance to double-check your measurements, to make sure what you order will actually fit!0 -
From my experiences with Marks and Spencer and Next recently, it seems to take forever for the stuff to arrive so I'd check the delivery times with customer services of the store.
However I have to agree than if you are moving in in January then personally I would wait and at least have a look at January sales. I got my loveseats in a 50% off Bank Holiday weekend deal from Marks and Spencer so effectively bought one got one free
Laura Ashley Home has furniture offers on at the moment btw0 -
The best deals will probably be after Christmas. However, there may be a long lead time on the items.
I bought a suite in the summer from SCS and they quoted 8-12 weeks and they rang me to say it was ready after 10 weeks. But they did insist I sign a contract that I would accept delivery as soon as the goods were available for delivery.
Flexibility may also depend on whether its delivered by a local branch (who will have limited storage space) or direct from regional warehouse (who may have more flexibility).Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -
A decent furniture store will do this or you. Our local independent store did this for my mum and dad. They live and worked abroad and when they were retiring they ordered some stuff after Christmas but didn't want it delivered till the June (when they retired). They paid a deposit and then the guy put the order through to the suppliers in the march. It all worked out really well.0
