My daughter wants a netbook for Christmas. She is 15 yrs old and currently used my laptop. Any ideas about which one is the best at the moment? I've searched and searched on the web but easily get confused as to what is a good buy or not. Only looking to spend £250 or less if poss.

Best for what? You can get a decent laptop for £250. Otherwise I would be looking at an Ultrabook of some kind.0

She would use it to browse web, use social networking sites, keep in contact with friends and use microsoft office for hwk.0

So is she only interested in a Netbook?
MSI U180 Cheap and cheerful. Average battery life. Customer return.
HP Mini 210-4121 ea is user friendly and has a long battery life. Customer return.
For an unopened box Netbook, consider the SAMSUNG N Series NC110P.0 -
Agree with the above.
I have an Asus EePC - not sure of model# but that's been great.
NOTE: before buying, look on the web to see how easy a RAM memory upgrade is. I upgraded mine from 1Gb to 2Gb; it seems (from what I read somewhere when buying mine) that this makes netbooks much more useable - and mine cost less than £20 to upgrade! :T

laptops are more useful (bigger screen/keyboard, better processor, dvd drive, etc) unless you need the portability!!

Many thanks for your replies. She doesn't know she is getting one. I just thought she'd want a netbook for portability but after having a look at ASUS laptop I'm changing my mind!!0
