Anyway, my actual original post is more about my rights to compensation rather than Settlements Vs Defaults.
I paid the debt 1 and a half years ago, Lloyds never updated the status and still havn't. They know they are in the wrong as suggested by the £100 offer of compensation I didn't even have to fight for. Has anyone on here had something like this before and if so is £100 a fair amount or are they trying to pull the wool over my eyes.
I believe you think that having this default settled on your account is going to really improve your chance for credit.
You're high risk if the default is settled or non settled you will be low risk again in 2015.0 -
Did you read my last post? Iam not asking about my credit worthiness, I know a default and a settlement are both bad. you are now the 3rd person to say the same thing.
The fact is they made a mistake this can't be disuputed. is £100 compensation the normal thing they offer? do they usually offer nothing? is £100 too low?
I don't much care about my credit rating as someone pointed out in 2015 it will be clear and I don't think i'll need credit until then. I just want to know is £100 compensation acceptable when a lender forgets to update the ref agencies?0 -
If you haven't been declined for any credit applications I would have thought £100 is fair as the unsettled default would only cause issues if credit application were made.
Your only other option is to go to the ombudsman and that can take months and you might not get anything.
Personally, I would take the £100

Thanks TakingControl
As the first person to answer my Q i'll split the £100 with you (only joking)

I have the same question as you about the compensation, I have been chased by a company, Capquest for 4 yrs now and gave them all the help that I can. The debt was never mine, it was someone else and now they have admitted it is them at fault. The amount was for £26,335,78. As you can imagine I was slightly worried by this and had a lot of stress because of it. They have now offered me £250 compensation for my worry and troubles, do you think this is fair? I've had to put this here as I'm new, no good on a computer and don't know how to start a post, Thanks for any help.0
