Bank Charges over 6 years -legal question??

Okay here it goes in brief.
I am alleged to owe £x's from the 1990's for an old overdraft.
These consist purely of 'unlwaful' charges which were applied to my account. Over the years I have been in contact with the bank but have not paid them -so it is not statute barred.
Today I received a summons. My defence is that the charges were unlwaful. Hence I owe nothing. Any legal minds out there like to offer their opinion. It runs into thousands.

Sorry I cannot help, but, if you have no luck here, have a pop over to the consumeractiongroup forum. Someone there will be able to help.0
