What does Held mean on Royal mail track and trace

Hi, I recently sent an ebay parcel from the postoffice. It was recorded, so I checked the track and trace, (because it hasn't got there), it says Held, does anyone know what this means?

Have you sent it abroad?
I understood this to mean that it was held at customs.0 -

What service did you use? I have this on PF parcels which have been taken to the local PO for delivery/collection later.0

Do you mean Royal Mail Tracked?
I don't know of a 48hr service unless it's Parcelforce.0 -
must be parcel force then POP says express 480

track it on the PF site0 -
Yes, its PF then.
I don't know if they have a glossary of their terms. But when I have been expecting parcels from PF, if it goes to 'held' for me it means it's at my local post office. Could it be that your buyer wasn't home and the parcel has been left at the nearest PO or taken back for redelivery? Perhaps give them a ring.0 -
Hi, just tried the Parcel force track website, instead of Royal Mail Track and Trace. This one says that Held means that delivery has been attempted, and it is being held at post office for collection.
Thankyou for your help, I was just looking at the wrong website.0
