Feather pillows - strange smell!

Hi all,
We have a little problem and we're not sure what's going on, so I thought of asking here.....we have four feather pillows and they needed washing, so I put them into the washing machine, one at a time, on a wool wash (because it stated 'delicates'). Three have come out fine but there's one that has a strange smell to it.
We originally thought it was because we'd put it to dry in the airing cupboard and maybe the feathers didn't like the heat - so I washed it again (it's now been washed 3 times), this last time of washing I hung it outside to dry, it's been out there for a few days, brought in just now and yes - there's the smell.
Has anyone else encountered this? Is the pillow doomed to the bin? It's only a year old so not ready to be thrown away - we've run out of ideas though! There's no point washing it again - is there?
Thanks in advance
Lisa

The only thing I can tell you is that I have had a awful smell the odd time from my pillows, and I could never work out what it was.
Funny enough I have washed them today (snap):D and none of them smell, yet last time I did have the one that ponged, but it did go away after a couple of days.0 -
Thanks Misgrace,
We'll leave the pillow out to air and see if the smell goes - it's very odd though isn't it???
Thank you for replying
