Can anybody give us advice re a new Freesat box please. Last time we got the expensive Humax one and after a few months the voices went out of synch and its too annoying to watch. Husband asking what kind is best - HD he says. TY !

You do know that the audio sync is adjustable I suppose?

You can also get lip sync problems if the sat signal is on the weak side.

Ok ty - he tried to reset it often and it wouldn't work, but yes we do have a very weak signal up here. Any ideas on what to do ?

Do you have the correct size dish - I know they have to be bigger up there as you are on the edge of the satellite footprint. A quick google says it s/b a zone 2 dish at 55cm rather than the zone 1 at 40cm -that's for Astra. I know that around here you see some monsters that could probably contact the Voyager probes which I'm guessing are for satellites targeting eastern Europe.

    Excellent.

I had to adjust mine once ages back but it's stayed OK since apart from the odd short term glitch.

I chose the FoxSatHD based on good reports but to be 100% honest it seems to be a bit crude and buggy. One of my pet gripes is the time it takes to delete an old recording - why???? Maybe the others are worse?

I agree on the deletion time, have never worked out why the timelag. I have a Freeview 9300T as well and it's almost instant on that.

I've got the Humax, and Sky +. It seems the Humax actually erases the entire programme off the drive. Sky+ (like your computer) just sortof marks it to be written over if necessary, far faster.
Note that you don't have to sit watching the Humax delete - you can navigate the menu, exit, or switch off he box while it's deleting. Plenty of other boxes are similar.

But what you can't do is delete one programme and start deleting a second-you have to wait for the first one to finish first.
