  • I've ordered from svp many times. Never had any serious problems with them so far. Also they have good offers on like 99p postage and also a 99p postage "selection" - buy one of those and get 99p postage. Somtimes doing that is cheaper than paying the postage itself...and you get the item.

Recently they had some batteries for sale on their website, some of them were expired and corroded or even short-dated (they were ex-shop stock, only 18p a pack), but they refunded without question. They did let me choose between sending replacements or a refund but I said, please do if you have stock, otherwise a refund is fine.

I used their online support for this, no problems at all.

    I've been Money Tipped!
Yes they are great, 2 years ago I got a DIVX/AVI DVD player, they emailed me constantly to say there was a problem with supplier and did I want to wait or get a refund, eventually they couldnt get it, so sent me a different model with an extra lens cleaner(expensive one) worth £10 without even telling me! I didnt know till it arrived!

They are also a supplier sponsor over at the DVD Forums (www.thedvdforums.co.uk). Always had excellent service, great for blank media, ink cartridges etc.
  • Last year we ordered a fairly expensive (£38) computer keyboard from SVP. It arrived within 48 hours, worked perfectly, no problems. But then. . . aaargh: the characters on the keys began to blur as the surface wore down.

Degradation began after only three or four months and after six months' usage, well, forget it.

So we emailed SVP one morning a couple of weeks back. Received an email back from SVP Customer Services that same afternoon: they were very sorry to hear of the problem, could we please let them know which day of the week would be convenient for their courier to call by and collect the product from us.

We emailed back at 5pm. Next morning, at 9.30am, SVP Customer Services emailed with the day / date the courier would be coming to collect -- and bringing a replacement keyboard.

Courier duly turned up, old keyboard taken away, new keyboard handed over. I'm using it now.

I sent a letter of thanks to SVP together with a cheque to help defray their P&P costs.

SVP emailed me back two days later to say thanks very much for your letter, much appreciated, but sorry, we can't accept any payment: you're the customer, and you're the one who's been inconvenienced. So we've torn up your cheque.

SVP is now in its 10th anniversary year and from the outset has been a benchmark against which every other online and real world retailer can be measured. Gawd willing, it will still be going strong many years from now.

We certainly wouldn't go anywhere else for our stuff (SVP's blank DVDs are the best quality around, though there's more to this relatively small Paignton-based outfit than DVD sales alone.)

Well done, SVP -- and thanks.:)
