Bmi amex card stopped???

Tried to apply for my old man and kept getting error messages, gave them a ring and lady said mbna are no longer offering the card:mad::mad::mad:

Anyone know why, was a good card for the 20k avios bonus.

BMI doesnt exist any more, its international part became part of BA and its national business is now in BMI Regional which are not part of Avios.

You could go for the Gold Chargecard instead which is free free year one and comes with 20,000 MR points and these can be converted to Avios points either immediately on a 1 for 1 basis or there is often special offers with bonus points for transferring.

Even better get someone like me or another member to recommend him and he will receive even more points (plus the recommender receives points too)

To answer eddiemacthedog's question , the bmi credit from MBNA is continuing. It's just that no new accounts are being opened.

For existing cardholders, normal earning rates apply - 1.5 miles per £ for the AmEx and 1.5 miles per £2 for the Visa - with the difference that they can be converted 1:1 for BA Avios. I think that's the only redemption opportunity now.

There's an extra benefit for those using the card with ba.com - double miles. 3 Avios per £ with BA on a fee-free card is better than BA's own AmEx card (excluding the BA £150 AmEx).
