Do you have your own private garden?
Vaccinations are against diseases that, for the most part, will be transfered by other dogs. If you have a private garden, or a communal garden only shared with vaccinated dogs, you will be pretty safe to let the puppy out in it. There's no total guarantee but most people do it with no problems.

I would actually avoid even this type of contact with a young unvaccinated pup as parvo is becoming a problem again in certain areas of the country. Don't forget the virus can be carried on footwear/clothing so even a vaccinated dog can spread the virus just by having walked in a contaminated area.

Which is why I said ask your vet who will be aware of local conditions.
Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.

Ditch the puppy pads, just get him out in the garden every hour and tell him to "wee!" and go overboard when he does.

Also, get armed with a good book - The Perfect Puppy is pretty much the most recommended one as you will need to be ready for more training. You can get The Perfect Puppy on amazon.

Just had a quick scan back at the thread. Really it would not be wise to let him out and about until his vaccinations have taken effect. Parvo is a killer especially in puppies and you dont want that happening to such a lovely little boy.

I used to stand outside on the pavement holding my boy so he got used to seeing and hearing traffic and people/school kids walking by.

Its obviously a risk but if you are sensible - ie no seeing other dogs, concrete surfaces only and no going off sniffing then its pretty minimal.

Our puppy is a Guide Dog puppy and the above advice comes from our supervisor. Given that GD breads over 1200 dogs a year I think they will have a good idea as to what the risks/benefits are.

If they have their own private garden that no other dogs have access to then absolutely no reason why he can't go out there to be toilet trained. Parvo is a killer yes, but with sensible precautions the risks can be minimised. Basically, just stay away from other dogs and places where dogs are frequently allowed to defaecate.
