This is all normal AND fully covered by Budget's T&C's. it has been in place since 1994 to cover all issued penalties. By your admission, you did incur the charge and did not pay within the relevant timeframe.

The admin charge is not stipulated within the T&C's but it appears in their Tariff document - this is due to the relevant increases they will want to apply and the courts have held a charge of under £40-50 is 'reasonable' for the extra admin that has to be done due to your oversight.

If you hadn't gone to London, you would be in a position to argue, but as it stands you agreed to their policy, and have to pay the price.
  • OK, fair enough. Thanks for the advice :)
