A wild card amongst the Big 6 ?
For some months now we have had reports in the press regarding the need to build new Nuclear Power stations to stop the lights going out.
The behaviour of EDF and n'power has been like reluctant brides trying to push up the value of the Dowry - ie A gauranteed price from the Govt for the Electricity produced - with them playing what they considered a trump card by withdrawing from the negotiations.
So out of the blue Hitachi have stepped in and bought the rights to available nuclear sites, and are willing to build without any price guarantees - So have the BIG 6 been finally hoist on their own petard? Oh I do hope so

Good news. What is their background/track record in such projects?0

I'm not so sure about the Edf/NPower game. In project terms it's usually less expensive for the client to underwrite the risk of an unlikely (but expensive) event. I expect the client wanted the cake of low price but no risk.
The Nuclear Inspectorate could still scr*w things.0 -
But if Hitachi build them, who is actually going to operate them?No free lunch, and no free laptop0
