Slightly odd...two things

Hiya, im having a bit of a clear out and on one item i am selling the highest bidder has purchased no less than 7 of the same item in under a week, now its not something that anybody would need more than one of! Seems rather odd to me, anyone have any thoughts?

Also ive been bidding on a few auctions lately and noticing that alot if the items will go for a higher price than the same seller has them for on a BIN, are buyers really stupid enough not to look to see if the item has a general price before blindly bidding? Again this seems strange to me, if not slightly annoying when your waiting for an auction to end to try and save a little bit of money! Does anyone else see this? Is it common?

Depends on what the item is.

Are they collecting? If the buyer is collecting the items, it makes sense that they want to buy everything in one go.

Is it a kid's toy? Or is it a themed thing, such as halloween? Could he be buying them for a group of kids?

Could it be that the buyer is stocking up for Christmas? For example, is it the same book you are selling cheap and he /she intends giving them as presents? ... I've done that in the past! ;)

Nope, none of the above, its a tens machine, but they have been buying exactly the same one over and over again...i cant think of any reason why you would need 2 let alone 8!

Or they refurbish and sell on as a business.

I routinely buy similar items as I can resell in a slightly different market and using different keywords and make an easy profit.

There are quite a number of reasons - it's not really something that I delve too much into and I don't think it's relevant to any particular seller. All that matters is that your buyer pays.

Dunno! My only thoughts are that they are being bought for a sports club or an OAP's home! :D

So maybe not that odd afterall, just seemed strange to me!

Anyone have any thoughts on people bidding more on an auction than you can buy the same item for BIN?

Auction fever. Some people just have to have the last bid. Usually those that like the last word!
