Where can i get the information i need?

I'm going to try and keep this short.

Partners mum left 10 years ago.
No divorce.
Partner lived with dad.
Dad passed away last year.
No will left as unexpected.
Mum taking home from partner.

Mum is now selling dads house - don't know who owns house technically - understand can get info from land registry for £3.

The other information i want to obtain is whether a probate has been done/is being done? Whilst everyone was grieving last year it has become apparent mum began legal processes to take everything partners dad had but i need to know how far she has got with them.

Intend to seek legal aid and attempt to salvage SOMETHING. This woman seems set on taking EVERYTHING though

If there is no will then there is no probate. What is needed is letters of administration. Depends if the house was in joint names or solely in dad's name and what his estate was worth.

If there was no Will, laws of intestacy will apply and if they were still married then she gets the first £250k.
