two quotes for conservatory

Hi, I have just received two quotes for a conservatory ,and am not sure who to go with. both prices are very similar but one is offering 35mm polycarbonate roofing and the other is offering 25mm , is there much difference between the two, also one has given us two prices. option 1 is3.40m wide by3.35m, option two is3.4m by3.85m,for 300 ponds more than the first option . first option is £7500 and second option is £7800, .i think it may be better to go with the second option, does this sound like a good deal , any thoughts appreciated thanks jade. ps also is it best to have clear opal or bronze roof .

Def go with option 2 in my opinion - 15% more space for 4% more £, you won't regret it.

But what was the other quote for?

    Does either supplier come recommended?

Can't answer on the roof questions I'm afraid, I'd prefer glass but that's my prejudice.

I would go for the larger size with the thicker roofing and go for the bronze. Conservatories get very bright in the summer and the bronze sounds like it will provide a little shading. Our conservatory is only 3m square and we use it all the time. You will consider it an excellent investment

Hi, thanks for all your replies. we have had another quote this morning ,this time from a larger well known firm, but they want 3 thousand more than the other two firms. also the guy was trying to put us off going with the other two firms by saying that their products were nowhere as good as his were, he was a bit pushy. still don,t know who to go with, this is all so confusing:eek: . we were thinking of going with the second firm ,but they don,t even have a website ,which i thought was a bit strange, but he was giving us the best offer. also the guy this morning was trying to get us to have a glass roof, which i know is nicer but also quite a lot more expensive, he was saying that if we have polycarbonate we wont be able to use the conservatory in the winter, but the other guy said that we would, who do we believe:confused: any more help would be appreciated thanks jade.

Look to see if they have an insurance backed guarantee and it may be worth haggling with the bigger firm... I know someone who got a company to price match a lower quote form another company. Sorry don't know which ones though.

Just one bit of advice, make sure you get an opening roof vent and as many opening windows as you can as when it comes to the hot weather you will be glad you did

Hi,thanks for all your replies, one more question though, we were thinking of having the french doors at the front but have been told that its better to have them at the side, as you can get a better layout with your furniture, now i,m confused, and dont know where to have them. jade.
