Changing tariff confusion
Hello all, after some advice...
I'm not looking to change supplier, but wondering if I should switch to a different tariff.
I'm with E.ON on their EnergyOnline tariff.
That's 24.129p a unit up to 900 kWhs per year & then 13.125p a unit.
I'm expecting them to follow the rest of the suppliers & hike their prices soon, so do I switch to a fixed tariff?
The prices on that are:
26.555p standing charge per day & 12.842p per normal units.
Based on the last 12 months, I've used around 3000 kWhs.
However... I've recently had solar panels fitted & usage compared to same period last year is down by a third.
I've tried to work it out & I think I'm only saving a couple of £ a year changing tariff, but I'm not going to get stung with a price hike just after Christmas.
So should I switch to a fixed tariff???
Thanks

Probably, but what really matters is the price you fix at. And all the cheap fixes are long gone now, so any current fixes will factor in the forthcoming increases announced by all suppliers. Eon will no doubt announce theirs on 1/12 for 1/1.No free lunch, and no free laptop0

Variable rates are likely to go up after 1 Jan, fixed will be at what price you fix at. If you are already able to save a couple of pounds by changing to a fixed tariff before the anticipated increases I would be jumping in to change over now before they pull that deal and replace it with a higher fixed tariff.0
