Just got back from a holiday and put 3Gb of photos etc onto my hard-drive. I have an emachine laptop running windows 7. Burnt the photos and videos to a DVD using Nero at 8x speed. When I try to read the DVD the laptop doesnt recognise there is a disk in the drive BUT when I put the disc into another computer it reads the burnt files with no problem.
Anybody any ideas what to try so that I can work out when my DVD drive cannot "explore" (all I am trying top do is open the DVDs contents using windows explorer) the files but it burnt them OK.

This is probably down to Nero, is it also installed on your laptop?
Try installing this on your laptop

Quite why you did not burn the disc using Windows 7's own burner is odd.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0 -
Why is it odd? People all have their own preferences as to the software they use."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0

Because you have a free burner in Windows. That's why it's odd and Nero is a pain.My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

I tried with the Windows 7 burner and it didnt appear to work. Nero0 worked OK on the bruning side (as 2 DVD are readable on other machines) they are just not readable on the machine which burnt them. THATS ODD!
And thats the Nero software that I used to burn it.0 -
Then I suggest you try burning a second disk of another brand and if you have the same problem, then you may well have a drive that is going out of alignement, and will need replacing. If it reads ok then it's the brand of disk you are using that's caused the problem. My Mind wanders, if found please return.0

I don't have one but the fact that the burned disks can be read in another machine would suggest that it has nothing to do with Nero (as you first suggested)."Some folks are wise and some are otherwise." - Tobias Smollett0

Tried other DVDs/CDS and they worked although some were very slow to load up. One DVD didnt work until a touched the drawere and it started to play but stuttery. Ejected it but when I try and put in another DVD it still refers to the title of the previous. Coming to the conclusion it must be my DVD drive related. Will keep trying to see what I can learn.0
