Comet Edge Card PPI Missell

Options
Hi Folks looking for some help. Ive discovered that comet has been taking PPI payments from my edge card for over 7yrs. Its statee12% of minimum monthly payment which depending on total account balance at that time is £3.83. I have raised complaint by emailing CEO straight away (7 days ago), however my question is how much can i claim back through missell and additional compensation.. ?

Thanks in advance..

    Hi and welcome

if you succeed in your complaint, they aim to put you back in the positions as if you did not have, so you should receive all you paid of the ppi premiums and the relevant interest.

I understand it differs to loan ppi interest.
The one and only "Dizzy Di" :D
  • If your complaint is upheld you will be entitled to a refund of the full premius paid plus 8% interest. This is not basic interest i.s £8 from £100 but it depends on how the premiums are collected and how long since the inception of the policy.
  • Thanks for quick reply.. seemingly the policy was set up on the 18/10/05 but i think was earlier as been regular comet customer..

Theres a few weak points here

    1. Length of time, it would be questioned as to how you didnt notice it for 7 years.
    2. PPI is not illegal, it can and is used for perfectly good protection reasons. What is your complaint for mis-selling?
    3. You should do all complaints in writing, email is still not considered good enough means of communication (which is a little bizarre these days). It also shouldnt be to the CEO but the PPI complaints team of the insurers.

    Very valid points

    3. Its problem is that it is not secure!
It also shouldnt be to the CEO
No - but it will work.
but the PPI complaints team of the insurers.
Except that the insurer is not responsible if it did not actually sell it.

There is a further problem too.

Comet Group Ltd is not, and never has been, regulated by the FSA. Nor has it ever been an Appointed Representative of anybody who is.

That means that if you were sold PPI by Comet Group Ltd, it will predate regulation and the Financial Ombudsman Service will have no jurisdiction.

So that will not help you.

However, the cards are provided by Santander Cards UK Limited, which IS FSA regulated. So that is where you need to direct any complaint.

    The address is

    Capital House 2
    Bruntcliffe Way
