Change of Rent Date

Hello I currently pay my rent on the 1st of each month, however due to a new job and change in pay dates i was looking to change due date from the 1st to the 29th month. So Novembers payment due Tomorrow however i wish to now pay on the 28th November. I have a private landlord and was wondering if they would agree with this proposal, or if it is something that is not really done. I have been a tenant for 2 years and i have not missed payment.

thanks.

You can always ask - LL may or may not agree.

However most LLs require rent a month in advance, and you are effectively asking to pay a month later than at present.

Why not bring the payment date forward by a couple of days - to align with your salary payment?

The payment date does not affect the period covered by the payment, so a payment made on, say, 29th Nov would still cover 1st - 31st December (assuming those are the periods currently being covered by your rent).

That would mean you are paying in arrears, as G_M says why not pay on 1 November as normal then again on the 29 November?

OP would effectively have to pay two lots of rent out of one month's salary but as G_M says, OP cannot expect LL to simply switch to payment in arrears.

OP - talk to your LL. Do remember that s/he does not have to change any tenancy terms, any more than you would have to agree to accept changes.
