Buying a new car.

I am just after some opinions really on buying a brand new car. I have never bought a new car before but am going to test drive a Toyota aygo at the weekend. I was initially looking at used cars around 5k but Toyota are doing 0% on new cars and it has tweaked my interest. Do i keep my money in the bank and have a new car with no mot's and everything that goes with a new car or do i ask them to let me know when a p/x comes in at around 5k.
Life may not be the party we hoped for, but while we're here we should dance....

What model are you going for? Can get a brand new Peugeot 107 base model (exact same car as the aygo) for £5700 when taking finance with pentagon

You could save a lot by buying one just a few months old.

Still no MOTs till it is 3.

I liked our Aygo but not good for long journeys
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.

Thanks for the replies. We normally have a bigger car but are looking for something smaller now we don't need to carry four people around now the kids are older.

Thanks jaydeeuk I'll check those out.

The long distance was one of my concerns, is it just the comfort on the long distance McKneff.

I believe it was the comfort, its about 4 years since we got rid of ours.

I did notice that the wind caught it in exposed areas, so you had ot have your wits about you at times.

Cant fault the safety aspect of it though. Thoroughly well built.
If you can, get a day or two test drive if you can, you will get more idea of the feel of it. We upped to a Corsa and it is so much more comfy and ...well, I just love it, we chose the Corsa Design. Brilliant, we have had it over 3 years and will get another one when the time comes. I never want a small car again.

£8000 new? If you buy it today by friday its worth about £6000 - £6500?

So £1500 - £2000 gone already. Why not buy a pre registered one with maybe a few hundred miles for much less?

Why not buy a better spec car thats under 1 year old for £1500 or more less?

This is my dilemma, I have always said I wouldn't buy a new car because of the depreciation. But I am now getting mixed opinions from different people plus with the 0% it makes it very tempting.

I agree if you have the cash but they will not do a 0% finance deal on a new car. So the added interest may be as expensive as buying new.

Every car will depreciate... Realistically.... A new car will lose money as soon as you drive it off the forecourt but who sells a new car shortly after buying? If your happy with the repayment and like the car go for it, haggle very very hard on the new prices though! Look on auto express for cars that have a good residual value after 3 years :)

Always ask for more in the showroom all they can say is no! I apologise for double posting I do not know how to quote two people in one reply :j
