Slow / newish laptop

Hi all, my partner bought a laptop off his friend's daughter who was a student. Not knowing much about computers, we find we probably have loads of stuff on here that we don't need. We basically use it for the internet.

I'm going through the fab guide on how to speed up a slow pc and have copied and pasted the hijack this thread. Could anyone please tell us what is safe to remove please, and what we do next?

Scan for virus and if it has a recovery partition then use that to take it back to factory fresh condition.

It has Vista, so it's not at all new. What is the full model number? It's at the bottom of the laptop and will begin with a P.

Have you run a Factory Restore since you purchased it?

I've scanned for viruses and its fine. No oI've not factory restored it, how do I do that? I can't find the model number sorry

It will be on the right hand underside of the laptop.
