British Gas refund check "Stuck in System"

Moved house end of June, notified British Gas, a check of 71 pound for the balance was sent out in my name and my mothers. Mom died two years ago, so I was unable to cash it. Phoned the British Gas helpline, explained the situation, they agreed to reissue a new check in my name only within 14 working days. Since then (mid July) no check has reached me, I phone regularly every month the call-centre, they are apologetic, say the check has been issued but "stuck in the system" and promise I'll get it within 14 - 21 working days - nothing comes, I'm getting nowhere. Could members advise me on what other options I could take ? Any information welcome.

You should write to them, clearly labeling the letter as a complaint. You're more likely to get one person to deal with the issue then rather than just explaining the problem over and over again to people on the phone who can't do anything themselves to resolve the issue.

Thanks for the post amiehall - I've written a complaints letter to British Gas hope your suggestion bears fruit, otherwise later I may try getting in touch with the Independent Ombudsman. If I get a result, I'll let you know, again thanks for the help.Regards
