Just renewing my annual insurance in a few weeks. After reading some of the chat on here ,someone suggested looking at the small print for baggage as possessions were usually not new for old,but said tesco did new for old.Have just spoken to them, but they say they only do this on cameras etcIs this possible to get this type of cover,or is it too pricey?
Also,is 5,000000 medical expenses adequate for europe,my current policy offers 10000000 but that was worldwide.

You should really cover any valuable items on your home insurance (as a personal possession) as very few Travel insurers will replace lost items as new.
Regarding your med expenses, I don't believe there has been a million pound claim, so even 5m should be adequate.0 -
Most travel policies don't offer new for old cover on baggage and possessions.
Note also that most household policies offering new for old cover on Contents don't actually provide new for old cover for possessions away from the home and it is common for personal possessions and specified items to be on 'indemnity basis', i.e second-hand value.
As always, it is necessary to read the small print and not make assumptions.

The Tesco website provides their travel policy wording and this confirms that cover for personal possessions under their policy IS new for old with the exception of clothing.

Section 2 Personal Possessions - Claims Settlement paragraph
It is normal for any items more specifically insured (namely valuables itemised on your home policy) will be excluded as you would have to claim on the home policy under whatever terms (indemnity) are set there.0
