Newcastle Building Society

Hi,
I'm an existing customer with the Newcastle (previously Universal), we've accepted an offer on our property and had an offer accepted on a new one, basically we're borrowing approx 60% for the new property.

Newcastle are really dragging their heels and seem to be treating us as if we are new customers, a mortgage adv within branch told us that we had def been accepted for the mortgage but the customer centre have changed their minds and said their need to see the equifax report re me! Now circs havent changed since i initially took out the mortgage with Universal if anything my circs have improved and we indeed took out a larger sum 2 years ago for some home improvments (again no problem).

Any adv. They've finally requested the valuation (i'm told by them) which i was initally told was requested 02/04/07. I've got the estate agents hassling me and the vendors have pulled out on other purchasers for less than this and i'm becoming nervous.

Do you think we're gonna get turned down???

Kelly

Being an existing customer i thought it would have been easier and quicker, plus we were very happy with the service and int rates

Well basically they do still have to underwrite the application so it would take as long as a fresh mortgage. Have you paid a booking or valuation fee yet?

Yes we have, we paid £200 when the advisor in branch told us we'd got the mortgage, we've since been told we may not have the mortgage.
Am really upset at the whole thing to be honest, wish i'd never been so loyal to them!

You need to get a definite answer from them or threaten to take your business elsewhere - probably plenty of other deals that are more competitive that could recover that £200 loss over the term anyway
