ISP is talktalk.

I have run speed test on the 3 closes servers to me all with the same result.

Anyone know how I can speed it up?

I'm with talktalk at home and I get over 12mbps (right now I am at my gf's using her laptop)

I have updated and run malwarebytes deleted the one thing it found.

The router is a Netgear DG834G

check the download sync speed on the router, it's a more useful number than ones from a speedtester site.

reboot the router to see if the sync speed improves

if there is noise on the phone line, there could be a line fault.

remove the bell wire from the back of the master socket

    try the master socket

if your sync speed is high, and download tests are low, try a wired connection to rule out wireless issues.

failing that move, (isp or house).

you have a major line issue going on there...with a d/s attenuation of 42 dB you should be syncing around 82xx kb/s on ADSL2+.

Try closed's advice above, and see the more in-depth diagnostics here:-

Hi,when i had exactly the same problem,I asked Orange(My isp) to re-calibrate the line,as it was not done properly, when you first sign up they test the line to see how fast it will go,ask them to do it again,it fixed the problem.

As above, you run this test connecting by ethernet or wireeless?. If the latter, redo with ethernet, from the BT test socket.

I'm on talk talk, been getting similar speeds to you for two weeks, as well as continuous issues for nearly a year. Talk talk couldnt give a flying !!!!, so I've cancelled my contract and gone to BT business... probably won't be any better, but it's nice to have a change of scenery, so to speak.

As it happens, apparently talktalk are experiencing issues with pipex legacy customers and recommend a router reset, if that helps.

    Download this:
    http://www.gmwsoftware.co.uk/

Run it at 15 min intervals for 24 hrs and see what your speeds are like over the 24 hr period. If you get good speeds in the middle of the night and it slows down dramatically late afternoon/evening, the problem is congestion in your exchange - your ISP will do NOTHING !
    it will cost them money.

    Get BT Infinity

    :rotfl:

Alternatively try changing your router to one that allows you to tweak the snr settings.

The Billion is an excellent router, and is much better than the BT Homehub 3 (black) and is good for bad lines.

Looks like you're in need of an SNR reset. It's a bit too high for a 42db line.

Either way - microfilters are consumable so replace this is you've had it for a while.
