Why is Corfu so expensive??

In comparison, had 2 hold last year, week all inclusive in turkey £350 each, and week all incl. in Tenerife also £350 each. Both 4 hr flights, both from Stansted and nice holidays.
Been looking at a week in Corfu in May '13 and the particular resort/hotel is coming up at £700 a week each half board? Any reasons why?
Cheers

Went to Corfu in August this year as the economic situation in Greece has reduced people going, meant I got some good late deals on a villa and a flight.
Looking forward to next year and it is really expensive!, I think when things are uncertain the companies price things to cover for that such as a worse economy or Greece falling out the Euro.
What I don't get is on my usual airline at peak time I can fly from Birmingham to Corfu for £80 but cannot get back for less than about £220 each - why is that? Corfu airport is the size of corner shop it should be cheaper!
If its any consolation it was a lot cheaper this year than last year when I went too as places competed for less customers - I could get a big juicy sirloin steak meal with all the trimmings for £7.0 -
Yes, I found the 'getting back' for September/October to Manchester was £200-300 (Athens, Crete, Mykonos, Santorini) so ended up going somewhere else.sillygoose wrote: »What I don't get is on my usual airline at peak time I can fly from Birmingham to Corfu for £80 but cannot get back for less than about £220 each - why is that?
Flight prices 2012 were reasonable April/May, but don't look promising for 2013 apart from Athens and Mykonos (so far...).0
