The T&Cs were copied and pasted straight from the card registration page. They were inset (small box with a scroll bar) at the bottom of the page.
Take another look, I think they've changed the T+Cs and removed that clause.

I've used my card in several places and received an e-mail telling me £5 will be credited to my statement each time. I also verified with Amex customer services that new customers were eligible.

Not getting any emails here though transactions are not yet showing on my (TSB Avios) card so maybe it's too early.

All I get is "no matching merchnats found" - even when searching "Scotland"!
  • I've registered, but no Clintons or M&S on my list. Just small shops that I have no reason to go to.

Was wondering, with them being small shops, it's likely you have to spend over £5, or more to use your card anyway isn't it, due to transaction fees?

Just wondering if I might get caught out having to spend £6 or something to use card, when I only want to spend £5 to get the cashback.

I've had some shops wanting a minimum £10 or in one case £12 spend. But mostly the minimum is £5. If they insist on more you just have to decide if you want to spend that for the discount.

There's an option to 'search as a list' near the top of the page. Interestingly this returns loads more businesses than the interactive map does.
