Lighting advice for a Kitchen with a Vaulted Ceiling with Velux windows

Hope someone can give some advice.
We're in the process off having our kitchen extended which has a vaulted ceiling over a large part of the kitchen / dining area (If I could work out how to attach a photo I would.....)
The vaulted floor area is approx 3.25m x 4.2m. The beams won't be exposed i.e. a flat plastered sloped ceiling with 2 velux windows. The velux windows are 81cm from the left hand wall and 78cm from the right hand wall. The distance between the 2 is 78cm.
The 2 large Velux's are in the position where we were originally thinking of hanging 2 pendant over the dining area and the top end of the kitchen.
I'm just debating whether 3 pendants would work or something like 4 spotlights on a bar (or maybe a mixture of these). However would be open to other ideas.
The non vaulted kitchen area will have 4 spots that are set into the ceiling, but I don't think spots would work on a vaulted ceiling.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated, as we're going to have to make a decision soon.

I've seen lights on a wire wall to wall work - you can choose height and spacing this way and they're visually small so shouldn't interfere with your velux.0

We've almost completed a similar kitchen extension, although ours doesn't have the velux windows in the vaulted ceiling (which obviously makes a difference!) but instead a double-height floor to ceiling wall of glass at one end and two smaller windows at the other end. Our beams are not exposed either and our floor areas are 6m x 5m and 5m x 4m. We considered having a wire & cable lighting system as suggested by Jaynne, but as the ceiling is soooooo high and we wanted a bit of drama, we instead opted for 14 spots in the ceiling at the non-vaulted end and an enormous chandelier (in excess of 1.5m high x 1.5m wide
) with nine bulbs at the vaulted end, which will hang over the island. We also have a wall light at the vaulted end where I have a desk......so far although the kitchen is only half way through being installed, it is by far the best-lit room in the house and provides ample lighting for our requirements!
Might be an idea to mock up the three/two pendants idea in the required places to see how it looks.......Mortgage-free for fourteen years!

Thanks so much for the advice, really appreciated.
I'll have a look at what will fit in. Would show you photo's but as new user can't add links0 -
We have downlighters in our vaulted ceiling and 2 pendants over the breakfast bar (which are on very long cables!). You can get adjustable angled downlighters so they still point down !
We're very happy with the outcome.
We had ours fitted before LEDs were remotely affordable so if we did it now would get LED instead of halogen.
Here are some pics from another post just as it was being finished

They look a bit randomly placed but this is to work around units and openings etc. There are 6 on the side shown and 9 on the other over the dining area much more evenly spaced. You are always confined by the position of the joists for downlights.0 -
Post a link by putting spaces in the URL like

Thanks for the advice and the link to your photos, the kitchen looks really good. I like the pendant choice too.
Thanks for the tip re posting photos, Unfortunately as I'm a new user I'm restricted from doing this (to stop spammers)
If you go onto Screwfix forum under Electrician, you can see posted photo's on a identical post i've done there.
Thanks for the help.0
