I've just bought a new, (to me) car and switched my insurance over. My insurance covers me to drive any car, so am I insured to drive the old car on this policy, even though it itself is not insured?

Read the terms of the Driving Other Cars section.... normally you would be unable to do it due to two terms:
1) The car must be owned by someone else other than you, not hired to you nor be under a HP/ lease agreement to you
2) The car must be insured in its own right
Irrespective of the insurance it is also now illegal to have a car that is not insured unless it has a SORN declaration and so you couldnt comply with the law and drive it because that would be in breach of the SORN declaration0 -
I need my currant insurance policy to use my car for my business, but will be selling my old car in a few weeks, so whats the cheapest/best thing to do regarding insurance in the mean time?0

Ask your current insurer to add it on to your policy temporarily.0
