World Books

Hi. Has anyone else had trouble with World Books. We have continually tried to return books and cancel our account and it is a vicious circle. You can't cancel the account until you have settled the bill and so they keep sending books and when we ask for them to pick up the books it is not happening. Now it has been referred to a debt collection service!!!!!!! We are furious.

There have been a number of threads about them and their associate book clubs, though a lot of that has been about unsolicited mail, though you may find something if you search the forum"Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, But beautiful old people are works of art."

I am also having a problem with them. They sent me the wrong books for my introductory offer and after continuous emails and letters they passed it on to a DCA. I wrote to them and explained the situation and after a couple of weeks they replied that they were taking no further action and had passed it back to world books.
Still haven't heard from them and I still have the books they originally sent to me back in August last year. I really wish I had never took up the offer in the first place. They claimed that I should have returned the books to them even though I asked how do I do this with every email. They really are useless.0 -
Had the same problem here. I paid the bill for the actual books I wanted, threatened them with legal advice by letter and stated that if they didn't send a courier for the uncollected books then I would keep them without charge. I also asked them to confirm closure of my acount by return of post.
Within 3 days I received a letter confirming closure, handed the unwanted books back to a courier and the grief was over. They had also referred me to a Debt Collections Agency - I contacted them and explained the situation. The debt that didn't actually exist was closed and so far, no bother. I have had a few calls begging me to come back and the 'threat' that they were sending more books for me to 'trial'. I literally told them where to go by phone and stated that I would take legal advice for unsolicited marketing. The phone calls soon stopped too. Take a deep breath, go all out to get it sorted and you should be fine. I'd never reccommend them to a living soul - they are a complete nightmare."How far you go in life depends on you being tender with the young, compassionate with the aged, sympathetic with the striving and tolerant of the weak and the strong. Because someday in life you will have been all of these."0 -
