Credit card Headache!

I have just applied for a Mortgage, and was told that I had an outstanding amount on a creditcard.

I went to equifax and did a credit search, and sure enough a very old (2003) santander creditcard on an old address had a balance of £3 (yes three) on it.

So I rang Santander and gave them my details and was told that it was an MBNA card at the time so I would have to contact them. While on the phone to Santander I asked if there was anything outstanding with them and was told No my account was all upto date and closed.

I then contacted MBNA and was told that I had no outstanding balances with them and my account was closed.

I dont know what to do know any help would be gratefully received.
