    Lived in New Malden.
    Pros
6 trains an hour to waterloo, takes 30 mins, running to 1.30AM!
Open leafy area, spacious, easy to park, not crowded like Kingston.or wimbledon or Raynes Park. Mainly houses not flats, get a lot for hyour money.
Get bit of garden, driveway, garage etc. with house
Good schools (not an issue yet but.....)
Plenty of supermarkets (giant tesco & metros at Triangle &train station., Morrisons on high st -or is it a coop now, waitrose). Some reasonable pubs. Lots of parks, a golf course and a driving range.
Tell the mrs Dame Nellie melba lived there- she'll know who that is!
    Cons;
    not glamorous.
Occasionally see me staggering out of pubs (true of Kindgston and Surbiton as well)

Claygate?Oxshott are lovely but you need to think about the frequency of trains, there are only two an hour.

Esher is great if you are near the station but it's not near the high street.

New Malden, Motspur Park, Epsom, Kingston are all commutable with better train services.

Don't get much for your money in New Malden, do you zagubov?
I guess it's a decent budget so should be ok, but the money would buy you a lot more in Chessington.

I'll second Epsom as we live nearer there . trains 35 mins to Waterloo but not sure if Oyster covers it. Nice /restaurants/pubs and a cinema you rarely need to book.

True about value for money but I reckon you get more than say Kingston and the trains are v. regular/fast and run late into the night.

You could get what you want for your budget in Woking. Is about 45 mins to Canary Wharf from the station and the trains are very frequent. Plent of houses within 1 mile from the station for around that budget.

Houses are big and trains are fast. Season ticket might be pricier. Used to have a mate that lived there who moaned it was a desert at night. Weekend consisted of dodging bored lager louts around the town centre.
Has it improved? My mate also lived in Guildford where there was plenty to do but I think houses were pricier, and train fares were colossal.

  • Epsom doesn't have Oyster, there is a petition to have it though, Ewell West one stop before Epsom has Oyster

Don't move here it's horrible! I want out.... Sun, Sea, Sand, Hammocks, Palm Trees........
Aspiring to be financially independent.... from my parents!

You would get the best house for your money in Woking it isn't as up market as Cobham or Esher but the train service is good. Guildford is nicer but the train service isn't as good as Woking I would think a yearly season ticket would be around £3k.

Like with everything else the better places are more expensive.

Improved some, but lifestyle is still the family life rather than the out at night in the pubs life. Wouldn't recommend for those without kids. Plenty of gastropubs etc out in the surrounding villages but need a designated driver of course. Season ticket abt £3.5k. Trains extra 15mins from Guildford so goes over an hour to Canary Wharf if you add in a mile walk to the station.
