Increasing my contents insurance

  • I also think that £125k is quite high, most insurers standard cover is around £50k. So may be it is worth a lower limit to make a bit of saving? When you look around your house, there often is not a lot that can add up to that amount (unless you have expensive solid oak furniture, entertainment system, armani & LV bags i suppose?).

    I can only speak for myself obviously but a quick tally of the lounge alone - remember if everything was lost in a fire - comes to almost £20k.

    Either way, it's done now. Unlimited cover from M&S Premium for £184 a year. I would much rather be over insured than under insured should the worst happen.
