Balance transfers to current account

Hello, i hope someone can help me as i'm struggling to find the info I need.

I have recently cleared all my credit cards with a loan - hooray! So, they are all at zero.

I have an overdraft that i need to sort out, currently £1,600 but probably nearer to 2k by the end of the month before pay day.

I have a Halifax card and sometimes they offer me current account transfers. I haven't had one recently just balance transfers. I called them today to see if it was available and was told they were trialling it but it's not currently available. New offers go live on 12 November so may get something then.

I see MBNA are doing one with interest free for 20 months and 4% fee, that would do me perfectly. Anyway i have a virgin card, it's at zero so i've called today to close it.

When can i apply for the MBNA one do you think? I don't want to jeopardise my application.

I've done a credit check and score today and it's all looking good.

If you want to wait until MBNA see that Virgin is closed when they check your credit report, wait about one month and then check Experian before you apply to confirm Virgin appears as settled. There's no guarantee closing this account will help your application, it could even hinder it. Depends on how MBNA read your whole report, debt/limit ratio, income, address info etc
