Syncing outlook calendar/android phone

Hi,
I am sure it is easy but I am absolutely failing in being able to sync my calendar on my android phone and outlook calendar on the laptop.
Can someone please help me out? I am terrified that if I lose my phone I will lose all of my diary/calendar stuff and I need a back up copy of it somewhere else.

use the google calendar sync and sync your outlook and phone to it

OK so it really was simple to download onto my handset. How do I do the same for my outlook calendar at home?
