Insurance renewal and Subsidence

I have a bit of a complex issue that I was hoping someone might be able to help me with.

My partner and I live in a bungalow that was inherited from my partner's late mother.

The bungalow suffered subsidence (cracks in the walls) many years ago and the building provider agreed to undertake the repairs (Cunningham and Linsey). This took many years to arrange but after many years of discussing the matter with my partner's mother, they decided not to underpin but rather decided to put steel supports in the walls and re-decorate once they had smoothed over the cracks.

Their justification was that they considered that no further subsidence would occur. By the time the work was carried out my partner's mother had passed away and we had since inherited the house.

However, about three years ago, we go further cracks, which have not moved any more. I need to contact CandL to get them to honour their guarantee to re-repair (which may take years) but I now have the issue of structural insurance.

I have a quote for over £500.00 for a renewal from our current provider but the original insurance was taken out in a hurry as I was going on holiday a few days later.

I am sure that I can get this cheaper if I shop around but many of the insurers out there either won't insure in the first place.

What is my position, given that C&L are already bound to pay up for the existing subsidence damage?

What I really mean is that is there anyway I can approach an insurance company but explain that I want cover but confirm that I shall not make any claim in relation to subsidence (i.e. on the grounds that this is essentially covered elsewhere)?

Or is it the case now that I am doomed with hefty premiums for ever more?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
