Advice needed/winge warning!:(
I moved into my house about two and a half years ago. The gas is on a card meter but the electric is not, same supplier.
I was able to set up a direct debit for the electric but failed a credit check for to set up a DD for the gas! They advised to try again after 6 months, which I did and failed again!
Since then I have been able to get a credit card with a small limit, which suits me fine as I wanted it to try to improve my credit rating!
I phoned the Gas people yesterday to try and change to DD, this time they informed me there would be a charge of £52 for the change over and I would need to go through the credit again, so I agreed and went through the credit check to fail!
Why can I have my electric by DD but not my gas?

You need to file for a credit report to see what has been put on to stop you.
I have heard before you pay to change a meter.
Just thinking when the smart meters roll out next year will you be able to have the change for free - if you sort out your credit rating? The secret to success is making very small, yet constant changes.:)0 -
change to a supplier who doesnt do credit checks?0
