Bathstore shower cubicle failure

Options
I bought a Bathstore shower cubicle in 2008. The runners on the doors have corroded and have some have sheared off making them unusable. Bathstore customer services and technical departments say they are not responsible for the product after the one year warranty has expired. They say the only circumstances they would look at them is if an independent assessment finds them to be faulty. The Sale of Goods Act says goods must fit for purpose and last a reasonable time – and that can be anything up to six years from the date of purchase but Bathstore does not recognise this. Does anyone have any advice or experience about dealing with this as I feel that an expensive shower cubicle should last longer than this.

Unfortunately I suspect you will find yourself on the end of a "fair wear and tear" argument. The 6 year thing (which is enshrined in EU legislation - bleah!) is really for manufacturing defects. Sorry.

    Cheers

  • Thanks for the useful reply. However, I will think twice before buying from Bathstore again.

    Hi nyleveallets,
Sorry to hear about your experience. Are you able to forward your order no. and the store you purchased from? We can look into this for you and see what else can be done.
