Haven't These Employers Got A Conscience?

There is always the 'Why are they unemployed? What is wrong with them? What am I missing?'
What I have notice with older office staff is they are rather poor typists relative to young people. Young people grew up with keyboards and most can type by touch, and if not still very quickly. The amount of times I see 35+ year olds who use their index fingers only is shocking.
If you get made redundant and do not fall into a job within the first month you are lumped into this 'there must be something wrong with you' bracket, but if you can't get interviews or a job offer then you will remain unemployed and end up in the catch 22.
I can type 35 wpm (not a lot I know but never did typing at school or anything) correctly using all the right fingers on the correct keys and I am 40

May I point out that I am not the first one who has said this. Other jobless men have echoed my exact sentiments.starrystarry wrote: »Pathetic. I begin to agree with the others who feel your attitude is the problem here.0

To judge by your pithy comments, you must be one of these employers who DO prefer to take on attractive young women instead of jobless men.starrystarry wrote: »And many men who echo your sentiments will remain jobless for the foreseeable future.0

I do find this fantastically hilarious.
If any man could do the job better than a woman, you can bet they would get the job over her due to a simple issue of 'maternity pay'. If you are being trounced by women then hurrah - because it means not only is she better than you - she's a better long term prospect even considering maternity pay and being out of action for 1 or maybe 2 years.
Which doesn't say much about your talents, eh?If you haven't got it - please don't flaunt it. TIA.0 -
I am a jobless woman and I am not blaming leggy blondes. Seriously!May I point out that I am not the first one who has said this. Other jobless men have echoed my exact sentiments.
You are not making it easy for yourself by saying that. I am with you on the fact employers are not wanting to interview the unemployed but not that employers perfer leggy blondes at all. That is stupid.0 -
